Today

hayBales.jpgWhen the Budweth family took over the Nobleton Feed Mill in 1978 there were few competitors targeting the rural consumer, and even fewer with specific expertise in horses. Today, with the recent opening of the Erin store, the market has changed dramatically. Now, this market space is flooded with products and options and promises, until it becomes difficult for the consumer to know whose information to trust and what product will live up to its hype. In such a crowded marketplace, it is rare to find a company that has been around since the beginning and continues to live up to a reputation for excellence that has endured for over 25 years.

In many ways the Budson Farm and Feed Company represents the future of this industry with scientifically formulated feeds and leading edge nutritional analysis. But the real value they bring to their customers is that they also represent the past. The Budweth family launches this new store on a solid foundation made up of two generations worth of experience and an unchanging commitment to quality. To that strong foundation they add the latest in agricultural and equine education and a demonstrated understanding of customer service and good business sense.

Since opening in the spring of 2006, the Budson Farm and Feed Company has grown, hiring five full-time and one part-time staff locally. Because they believe that educated consumers make better choices, the store offers regular educational workshops to help keep customers and community members informed. Recent workshops included:

  • Back to Basics – Understanding your Hay (forage analysis)
  • Preparing the Mare for the big event – Foaling
  • Colic and Laminitis - Putting Your Horse Back to Pasture

The Budweth brothers hope the Erin store will be the first of many such service oriented stores to offer practical solutions for country living. They believe the time is right to provide an experienced, accessible and trusted option to rural consumers across Southern Ontario. And they intend to work hard to earn that opportunity.
